100 Days to Go!

Wow. We're at 100 days left until the Catholic Wedding - 135 from our Hindu ceremony as well. Time is going fast, and a lot is changing.

On Monday I return to Florida after spending a month and a half at my parents' house in Fort Wayne, IN. Naveen flew in a few weeks ago so that we could drive up to Chicago and check out the apartment rental scene up there for a few days. Initially we were distraught because apparently we came super early for a July move (we're used to college apartments that you need to book sometimes six months in advance) - but apparently Chicago has a 98% occupancy rate, so things go incredibly fast.

Despite disappointments early in our search, we did find a place even just on our first day there, up in Rogers Park - a neighborhood somewhat near Loyola, approximately 25 minutes north of the downtown Lakeview area, and maybe 15 minutes south of Evanston (near Northwestern University). It's a longer commute to work than we hoped, but it's really not bad for Chicago. Also more bang for your buck, up where we are going to be. It's a nice condo-style building, in a beautiful neighborhood, with 2 beds 2 baths and a gorgeous kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a wood/gas burning fireplace, washer/dryer unit, even a deck and garage - the works - all for the price of a hole in the wall studio in Lakeview! We're super excited and felt very fortunate. What a find! And best of all, it felt like home the minute we walked in.

So, this month being our last in Orlando, I imagine we'll try to get in a few last-minute trips to the beaches down there. We really haven't had time to take advantage of the location, because of work and school, but we do want to try to do a few things before we leave. Naveen also graduates on June 27th, and his final team presentation is June 19th, so it's going to be a busy time, and some family will be visiting then. We've scheduled a pack & load for June 30th, and will probably start driving that night - and we have a handful of friends to visit on the way home to the midwest. Such an exciting time for us! Thanks for all your well-wishes and we look forward to seeing you at our wedding!

~Laura
